Funeral Policy FAQ

Everything you need to know about our funeral plans and claim procedures.

What is the waiting period on Dipone Funeral Plans?

Standard funeral plans have a 6-month waiting period for natural death for new policyholders. Accidental death cover is effective immediately upon receipt of the very first premium.

What is the KGOMO (Cattle) Option and how does it work?

The Kgomo benefit is a culturally attuned add-on (+R100/month) that provides an additional cash payout of up to R8,000 towards the purchase of a ceremonial cow/beast or food preparations for the burial weekend. You can select it directly on your application form.

Do all Dipone plans cover dependants?

Yes! Every Dipone funeral plan includes coverage for family dependants, with defined cash payouts or full burial service benefits for children (0–5 yrs, 6–13 yrs) and extended family members.

Can I choose between a Full Service burial and a Cash Payout?

Yes! Every Dipone plan provides members the complete flexibility to either receive our full professional burial service (coffin/casket, tent, chairs, transport, grocery cash) OR take the guaranteed cash payout specified in your plan schedule.

What documents are required to register a claim?

To process a claim swiftly, the claimant needs: 1) The original Death Certificate (BI-20), 2) Notice of Death (BI-1663), 3) Certified copies of the deceased’s ID and claimant’s ID, and 4) Premium payment receipt / policy confirmation.

How are monthly premiums paid?

Premiums can be paid conveniently via monthly debit order, direct bank EFT, or in cash at any of our branch offices in Pretoria, Moruleng, Lephalale, Mookgophong, or Stinkwater.
